Looking for a career where you're more than just a number?

Welcome to Axiom Maths
Axiom Maths is a charity aiming to radically increase the number of great mathematicians leaving Britain’s schools.
Half of disadvantaged eleven year olds who are top performers in maths at age 11 do not go on to get a high grade at GCSE. This represents a huge loss of talent that harms both those individuals and our country as a whole.
Can you help us change this?
We're growing the team
Axiom Maths is a new charity in a period of substantial growth. We are looking for people who want to be leaders in a small organisation. You'll need to enjoy working in an agile and rapidly changing organisation, and be comfortable with adapting to schools' and teachers' needs rather than executing on the original plan. You need to be excited about mathematics and its ability to transform pupils' lives.
We're looking for team members who will bring the best of themselves to Axiom Maths, and the best of Axiom Maths to the wider system.
Our values

We put our users first
We think pupils first, schools second, and others third. As organisations get bigger, they create more systems to manage scale, and process becomes the end rather than the means. We will not fall into this trap. We do the right thing for pupils and schools, even if it is harder for us. We break our process before breaking our commitment to the mission.

We move with momentum towards excellence
We embrace the tension between momentum and excellence. We cannot know what the excellent answer to a problem is until we put a solution out into the world, test it, and see how to make it better. This does not mean accepting mediocrity in the name of action, but is a call to generate early momentum as the path to excellence. It is better to get a working product out early than keep on waiting for the perfect product to come. Mistakes may happen along the way, and that's ok. Too many organisations freeze in pursuit of excellence. We move.

We feel high ownership and act with high agency
We feel like owners, and treat each other like owners. We take responsibility for the success of the organisation beyond our job descriptions. We make things better off our own backs, seeking guidance over permission. We are praised for embracing experimentation - both the successful and unsuccessful attempts. As leaders we treat our staff like shareholders. There is no hierarchy in problem-solving, and divergent views are sought. We trust our staff to further our mission because they’re owners of it.

We are one team
We are many functions but one team. We seek the success of all our colleagues, regardless of where they sit in an org chart. We make it easy for others to do their jobs, and to understand our own. We champion each others’ success.

Diversity
We exist to support children from all backgrounds, but especially those that are traditionally under-represented in university-level mathematics. We believe we will serve those children better if we have people on our team who have first-hand understanding of their experience. We therefore particularly encourage applications from people who share one of these backgrounds.
We do not want potential candidates to be put off if they believe they do not meet every one of the criteria as described in the following Person Specification. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and we encourage you to apply even if you don't believe you meet every one of the core criteria.
